New Kitty

Well, with my best friend off to Vancouver, WA, we have adopted her kitty, Stinky. She was super stressed about not being able to take him with her, and wanted him to have a good home. We love cats and Aaron has been wanting to get a second one, so... that worked out. We haven't introduced him to our cat, Joey, yet but they'll have to meet eventually. Hopefully she doesn't hate him. :)

For now he's staying in our office, but once he is comfortable with his new home he'll be outside like our kitty.

Checking out his new neighborhood from the office window.

I'm Thankful for...

a relationship with a loving, personal God
an amazing husband, truly a gift from a loving, personal God
a child in my very near future
a wonderful family, and extended family, that loves God
a Christ-following, be-real, Bible-teaching church
a country where I don't fear my children dying of starvation, disease, or war
friends who aren't afraid to confront me for my own benefit
a husband who has a job and works hard at it
no debt
a home that we own
a husband who takes out the trash for me, and is tidy
not having to work and be a mom at the same time
Starbucks coffee
free time
the resources to bless others
bible school
peanut butter, and everything you can make with it (my craving)
timtam slams (if you've never had one, you're missing out)
dishwashers and washing machines and dryers (my own personal slaves)
back and leg massages from my hubby
christian radio streamed online
chick flicks and nail polish
the generousity of neighbors
the power of prayer
facebook
"The Office"
prenatal yoga
homeowner's exemption on property taxes
cell phones and AAA
doctors
cute maternity clothes
tickle fights and snuggling afterwards
the beauty of God's creation
Calvin and Hobbes
musicals
chocolate

...and a million other things. God has so richly blessed my life, I could never list it all.

We are getting up early so "the boys" can all go play football, and "the gals" will all watch. That is until we get cold, then we're going to Starbucks until the boys finish. Off to the parents' after that to start prepping dinner, and then we can finish off the day eating. Isn't that how it's supposed to be?

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving and Christmas

*

I burned some Christmas CD at my parents' house yesterday and was listening to them this morning while preparing for Thanksgiving dinner. I decided to get out some of my (limited) Christmas decor and put it out. I'm so excited that the holidays are here, they're such a wonderful time of year. It also reminded me that Vanessa will be home in 15 days! I came across a picture of her that made me laugh.

It reminded me so much of her personality. It was the fifth or sixth picture in a series of bad ones. I know that my Mom was trying to get a good picture of the present she got and kept asking for another. We finally got this one.

I can hear her thoughts: "THERE! Did you get THAT one!" I could hardly breathe I was laughing so hard, and then I sobbed for about 10 minutes 'cause I wished she was here.
...
I miss you Nessa!

New Picture

Me, at 7 months (30 weeks):

What I've been up to

Since I quit work in October I have been enjoying the blessing of rest.
It has been so wonderful to be able to sleep in when my night has been interrupted by the discomforts of pregnancy.
It has been wonderful to have all the time I need to catch up on some projects I've had sitting around.
It has been wonderful to feel on top of my housework and really enjoy being a housewife. It has been wonderful!

On the not so wonderful side of things, my best high school buddy is moving to Vancouver, Washington on Thursday.
I'm thrilled that she and her husband have such a great opportunity to start a new life there with a great job.
I'm also happy that she'll be able to fulfill her dream of staying at home and starting a family of her own, but...
I'm sad that we'll miss out on being there for eachother as we each strive to be loving wives and mothers. We'll miss out on seeing eachothers' kids grow up...

but that's what blogs are for, right?

So, in the meantime...
I baked peanut butter cookies to make myself feel better. :)
